Artist's Statement: I have been a documentary photographer for nearly 50 years. In the case of “portraits” I have tried to be sure there is a sense of intimacy that allows the viewer to feel emotionally connected to the subject. I have had the good fortune to photograph in Asia, Africa, Europe and the Americas. Some of these images were made as part of book I did with the writer Keith Flynn called “Prosperity Gospel: Portraits of the Great Recession.”
